What time is Muay Thai in Patong?
The short answer is nine in the evening. The useful answer is when to leave your hotel and how long to keep the evening free.
- First bell
- 21:00, Monday to Saturday
- Closed
- Sunday
- Doors open
- 19:30
- Finishes
- By midnight at the latest
- Free hotel pick-up
- Shared van — Patong, Kata, Karon
Why 21:00, and what happens before it
Nine in the evening is when the first bell rings here: late enough that the working day is over and the heat has dropped, early enough that the whole card — 6 to 8 bouts — is over by midnight.
The time before the bell is not empty. From 19:30 the doors are open: fighters get their oil massage and warm up, the stadium fills, the band sets up and the first pair go through the wai khru. Arriving during that is part of the evening; arriving at 21:30 means missing it.
When to leave your hotel
From a hotel in Patong the drive is short, but Sai Nam Yen Road and the streets around it are busy in the evening. Leaving 45 minutes before the first bell is comfortable from anywhere in Patong, and an hour from Kata or Karon.
If you booked the free transfer, you do not have to guess: you choose one of the two pick-up rounds in the booking form. Be in your hotel lobby 15 minutes before your round — the van is shared and cannot wait for one room. It runs to Patong, Kata and Karon only.
How long the evening lasts
A night has 6 to 8 bouts, each scheduled for a small number of rounds with a break between them, and the main event usually comes late in the card. The programme is over by midnight at the latest, and one ticket covers every bout.
You are not obliged to stay to the end. Plenty of people watch a few fights and walk back to Bangla Road, which is a few minutes away.
Which nights have fights
Monday to Saturday. Sunday is the one night the ring stays dark, so a Sunday arrival in Phuket means planning the fights for another evening of the trip.
Nights with a published card are marked on the schedule page and on the booking calendar. The other fight days can still be booked — up to a year ahead — with the card announced closer to the date.
What to do between 19:30 and 21:00
The doors open at 19:30. Watch the fighters get their oil massage and warm up close to the ring, take photos, try the BB Gun (airsoft) play area, and have a drink or dinner from the bar and the food counter. There is also a Muay Thai gear shop inside the stadium, as well as toilets and other facilities.
You do not have to rely on the free van either: there is parking at the stadium for cars and motorbikes, and coming early makes finding a space easy. For anything else about your night, call +66 80 535 4042.
Questions people ask
What time do the fights finish?
The programme is over by midnight at the latest. Within that, it depends on the card — a night has 6 to 8 bouts, and a knockout shortens a fight while a full-distance contest does not. You can leave whenever you are ready.
Is there Muay Thai in Patong on Sunday?
Not at Patong Boxing Stadium: Sunday is the closed night. The week runs Monday to Saturday with the first bell at 21:00.
Can I arrive late?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole night and you can come in at any time after the doors open; a RINGSIDE seat stays yours. The opening of the evening is worth being there for, though, and if you booked the van, remember that it is shared and cannot wait — if you will miss your round, make your own way to the stadium.
